Guidelines posted for Individual Artist Fellowships
Guidelines for FY2011 Individual Artist Fellowships have been posted on the State Arts Council’s web site. Artists will find a major change this year. As a reflection of our commitment to individual professional artists and in response to the reality of our reduced resources, beginning in FY2011 the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts will award Individual Artist Fellowship disciplines on a rotating basis. In FY2011 the State Arts Council will focus on the discipline of literary arts. Fellowships for visual & media arts and performing arts will be supported subsequently.

Free FY2011 Grant Information Sessions for Artists, Organizations, Schools, and Communities

• Monday, February 22, 2010  -  2 to 4 p.m.
• Wednesday February 24, 2010  -  10 a.m. to 12 noon

Both workshops will be held in our offices at 2 ½ Beacon Street Suite 225 Concord, NH 03301 . Preregistration is required: please call (603) 271-2789 to register.
Non profit organizations, schools, and individual artists interested in applying for FY2011 grants are encouraged to attend one of our upcoming grants information sessions.  Each two-hour session will include an overview of the State Arts Council, information on FY2011 grant opportunities, and a summary of program services offered by the State Arts Council.  The session is a good opportunity to network and will include breakout discussion groups where you can explore project ideas with State Arts Council staff and ask questions.
The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts has made several changes to our FY2011 grant categories. Therefore, even if you have applied for NHSCA grants in the past, you are strongly encouraged to attend one of the sessions and to visit our web site to review the changes.  Look for the word NEW! If you are not able to attend a grants information session you will be able to view the PowerPoint presentation from this page. It will be posted on February 24.  If you have questions regarding FY2011 grant opportunities, please contact the grant coordinator listed for the grant you are interested in. We will be happy to discuss your particular goals and the opportunities available to you.

Culture Cares Continues to Grow
The inaugural fall Culture Cares community service campaign, initiated by the N.H. Department of Cultural Resources, was a resounding success. More than 30 community service projects, coordinated by nearly two dozen cultural organizations, have been listed on the Culture Cares web site since November 2009. Because the state’s cultural organizations continue to do outstanding work, and because so many in our communities – and beyond – are still in need, the
N.H. Department of Cultural Resources will continue to update the Culture Cares web site throughout the winter and spring of 2010.

Cultural organizations of all types – libraries, museums, historical societies, arts nonprofits, theatres, movie houses and others – are being asked to let the Department of Cultural Resources know about any community service projects they are undertaking so the good work can be shared with the public and can inspire others to join in helping those in need. The department is maintaining a webpage where people can find out about efforts by cultural organizations to support their communities. Learn more about the program by visiting Culture Cares.

Arts Organizations Asked to Participate in Survey
The Nonprofit Finance Fund (www.nonprofitfinancefund.org ), a nonprofit that advocates for an effective and durable social sector, is conducting its annual nationwide survey of nonprofits to help us all understand more about the sector’s specific, real-time financial challenges. Arts organizations are asked to contribute to this valuable endeavor by responding to NFF’s anonymous, 10-minute survey. If you have already filled out the 2010 survey, thank you, and please disregard this notice.

NFF will analyze this information, then provide the results to all of us – government, foundations, lending institutions, media, and umbrella organizations – in aggregated form only. Spotlight on Grantee Events

Made in New Hampshire’ Touring State
The Nashua Symphony Orchestra & Chorus will tour the state in February. The “Made in New Hampshire” tour features choruses from Bow High School, Kennet High School, and Keene State College. Performances will be held in Nashua, Concord, Plymouth and Keene, and feature works by two New Hampshire composers, Kevin Siegfried and Joseph Schwantner – in addition to classics from West Side Story and Porgy and Bess. For information on the tour, which is funded through a State Arts Council American Masterpieces, New Hampshire Inspirations grant (with funds from the National Endowment for the Arts), and on purchasing tickets, visit www.nashuasymphony.org .
